Word of mouth... Isn't it the best way of finding out about things? Just speak to people, just listen to them and you'll find your way to interesting events and places.
I was invited to a classical concert (which I'm moderately keen on) and thanks to this I found this small quirky place (which I'm awfully keen on).
Dovecot Studios, with its beautiful interior (a renovated Victorian swimming pool) displays not only a tapestry workshop containing fantastically imaginative tapestries, but also offers temporary exhibitions, talks and concerts.
From the Dovecot website: 'Dovecot is unique for its highly creative collaboration between artist, weaver and commissioner. Each tapestry combines the creative ideals of all three creative minds and the weaver will interpret, rather than simply translate, a design into textile'.
Oh yes, yes! That's what a literary translator does too: interprets the original work. Thus, a translator is an interpreter is a weaver that transforms the design of the original language into the textile of the secondary language... Or something like that ;)
So, here is another little discovery of one of Edinburgh's little places. Worth noticing. Worth checking out.

Zasłyszane... Najlepsza droga by dotrzeć do ciekawych miejsc i wydarzeń. Trzeba tylko rozmawiać i słuchać i jakoś się natrafi na interesujące nas rzeczy.
Zostałam zaproszona na koncert klasyczny (średnio mnie kręci), dzięki czemu odkryłam ciekawe miejsce (zakręciło mną mocno).
Galeria Dovecot Studios, w pięknym wnętrzu (odnowione wiktoriańskie łaźnie) nie tylko skrywa warsztat tkacki z fantastycznymi gobelinam, lecz także organizuje wystawy czasowe, wykłady i koncerty.
Ze strony internetowej studia: 'Dovecot jest wyjątkowe ze względu na istniejącą tu niezwykle twórczą współpracę pomiędzy artystą, tkaczem i kuratorem projektu. Ach, to, to! To samo robi tłumacz literacki: interpretuje oryginalne dzieło. Więc tłumacz jest takim tkaczem, który przeobraża rysunek oryginalnego języka w tkaninę języka docelowego... Czy jakoś tak ;)
A zatem - oto kolejne małe odkrycie jednego z małych edynburskich miejsc. Warte zauważenia. Warte odwiedzin.
